本学でOKAMUNが開催されました｜英語英文学科

12月11日(土)･12日(日)の2日間、本学にてOKAMUN (Okayama Model United Nations)が開催されました。OKAMUNとは、岡山で開催される模擬国連 (Model United Nations)の大会です。
今年度は、本学の自立力育成ゼミⅤを受講している学生をはじめ、岡山大学、神戸学院大学の学生も合わせた約40名の学生で行われました。昨年はオンラインでの開催となりましたが、2年ぶりの対面による開催で、本学が主催するのはこれで2回目となります。
OKAMUNに参加した学生は自身の担当する国についての問題点を深く調べ、様々な議論を交わしていました。始めのうちは不安だった学生も、会議が進むにつれ次第に自分の英語力に自信を持つようになり、各国代表の「大使」として堂々と意見を交わし、活発に充実した議論が繰り広げられていました。
今回のOKAMUNを通して本学の学生は多くの刺激を受けただけでなく、一人一人が英語によるディスカッションでの具体的な改善点を見つけることができました。OKAMUNに参加した学生は、2022年6月に本学で約150人の学生を対象に開催されるJUEMUN(Japan University English Model United Nations)とよばれる日本大学英語模擬国連に向けて様々な準備を進めています。次のJUEMUNでは、関西以外の大学がJUEMUNの主催校になるのは本学が初となることもあり、大会の成功に向けて奮励努力しています。
The Okayama Model United Nations (OKAMUN) was held on December 11th and 12th at Notre Dame Seishin University (NDSU). This was the second time NDSU has hosted the event, although last year it was held online. It also may have been the first face to face Model UN conference in Japan since 2019. There were about 40 students participating from NDSU, Okayama University, and Kobe Gakuin University. The students have been making efforts for the upcoming JUEMUN (Japan University English Model United Nations), a conference for around 150 students, which is going to be held at NDSU next June. It will be the first time for the conference to be held outside of the Kansai area.
The OKAMUN students had researched their assigned countries and were able to have fruitful discussions while role playing UN delegates. Although they seemed nervous at the beginning, they gradually became confident in their English and exchanged opinions openly as delegates of each country. They were spectacular overall. Through the OKAMUN, they were inspired a lot, and each one found their own points for improvement. They will continue working hard for JUEMUN 2022!
