今回はBowes先生のご研究の紹介です。

第3回：Kate Bowes准教授

Research Focus

One of the things I’m researching at the moment is the concept of the wilderness. Indigenous people around the world see the wilderness as a teacher and I’m curious to know more about this. How is it a teacher? What kinds of intelligence can we find in wild places? Why has the modern world chosen to ignore nature as a teacher? Can we begin to learn again from nature, widen our knowledge, deepen our respect and flourish together? Although there has been a lot of damage done to the wilderness by our human greediness, now I am being inspired by Pope Francis who encourages us all to study more and practice "Integral Ecology". Integral ecology sees the connection between humans and their environment and asks us to recognise the way we depend on each other for care.
