22 students from the English department joined the Japan University English Model United Nations, JUEMUN, jointly hosted by Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and Kobe City University of Foreign Studies, held the first online JUEMUN in its history with 136 students, 18 student leaders and 118 delegates, participating. Students from NDSU served as student leaders.
The student delegates simulated the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women discussing on the Agenda: The Empowerment of Women, and voted on a total of 12 draft resolutions that focused on the following topics: 1) Rural Women; 2) Domestic Workers and Migrants; 3) Low-skilled women; and 4) Women in Leadership positions.
Next year, the 12th annual JUEMUN will be hosted on the campus of Kyoto University of Foreign Studies and in 2022 the plan is to hold it at Notre Dame Seishin University.
