In this graduate school, students broadly research the doctrine and practice of various religions with a particular focus on Christianity.
The purpose of this graduate school is to deeply propagate the spirit of St. Julie Billiart, the founder of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, as well as the Founding Spirit. Various opportunities for learning and activities are provided for that purpose.

Planning and operation of on-campus religious events

At this school, students will plan and operate traditional on-campus events for the purpose of broadly cultivating familiarity with the University's unique Educational Philosophy, including Entrance Thanksgiving Mass, Memorial Mass, University Festival Opening Mass, Christmas Mass and the Hooding Ceremony.

IRCC Library

This library's considerable collection includes Japanese and Western texts and magazine on the spirit of Christianity, thinking, culture and so forth. Students are free to peruse and borrow the roughly 10,000 volumes on hand.

Christian Culture Society

This society convenes as a forum to study and observe Christianity from a broad perspective and to deepen associated intellectual understanding. To pursue a broader range of study, instructors from off campus are invited to participate in addition to University faculty members.

Bible Study Group

This Study Group facilitated by the faculty members charged with instruction approaches the Bible to become familiar with the spirit of Christianity together with students.

Support for club activities, etc. by students

Support is provided for activities by the Catholic Society, A Grain Club, the Cuore Puro Chorus and other groups.

Institute for Research of Christian Culture(IRCC)

This institute focuses on religious studies with a special concentration on Christianity, namely Christian cultures and humanity from a Christian perspective. The aim of the IRCC is to aid students in understanding the spirit of the foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, St. Julie Billiart, and by extension, to cultivate an appreciation of the founding spirit of our university.Toward these aims, the IRCC offers students classes in “Christian Studies,” which cover philosophy, culture and literature related to Christianity, Europe and Japan. The IRCC also hosts various activities, including open lectures on the Bible, and is responsible for traditional Christian ceremonies, for such as, thanksgiving mass for the new school year, Christmas mass, and Baccalaureate mass at graduation.

Classes offered by the IRCC

These classroom subjects are made up of special lectures and basic exercises that expand basic education on Christianity at a higher level. Credits acquired can be included in credits required for graduation.

Classes consisting of special lectures and seminars that develop a more advanced basic education in Christianity. Credits earned can be included in graduation requirements.
