My undergraduate degrees are in English literature (BA) and music composition and theory (BM) from California State University, Northridge. I did my graduate work at the University of Southern California, where I earned two Masters degrees, one in English literature (MA) and the other in drama and film (MPW, equivalent to an MFA), as well as a PhD in literature.

研究テーマに関すること
As my own professional biography may suggest, I am very interested in learning about other cultures, and my primary research interest involves the frontiers of different cultures and peoples. I am also interested in the connections between literature and the arts (painting and music, for example) and other cultural products. I have had the pleasure and opportunity to teach at universities in three continents. In America, I taught at California State University (Northridge and Los Angeles campuses), at the University of Southern California, and at UCLA in a special summer program for visiting Fulbright scholars. In Europe, I taught at the University of Zagreb in Croatia as a Fulbright Professor of American literature, and I lectured at other universities as well. In Japan, I taught for nine years in the Graduate School of Language and Culture at Nagoya University before joining the faculty here at Notre Dame Seishin.
